It takes two
By Dr Niruban Ratnarajah
In the words of the late, great Marvin Gaye: “It takes two, baby!”
And this has never been truer today.
Some people might think it’s “job done” once they’ve had their first Covid jab.
But that would be a serious mistake to make. Having two doses of the vaccine will give you much better protection against this potentially fatal illness, so it’s vital that you go back for your second vaccination.
The more people are vaccinated, the more we stop the spread of the virus – and the chances of new variants emerging.
It’s been great to see the number of people in Bolton turning up to our walk-in clinics for their vaccination, in addition to those who attended local and regional vaccination centres.
But people may forget about their second appointment, struggle to return to the vaccination site where they had their first jab, or not find the appointment time convenient.
That’s why we are making it as easy as possible.
You can now book to get your second dose if it’s been eight weeks or more since your first.
Call our hotlines (01204 462125/462157/462030/462028) and we can help with the process. The lines are for Bolton callers only and are open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm.
Walk-in clinics for people to get their second AstraZeneca doses are also being held at:
- Lever Chambers, Ashburner Street, BL1 1SQ until June 14 (not June 7, 9 and 11), 8am to 8pm
- University of Bolton, off University Way, BL6 6HQ until June 9, 12pm to 4pm (June 7) and 10am to 4pm (June 8 and 9)
These are for people who live, work or study in Bolton. No appointment is needed – just turn up! Keep an eye on the news and our website and social media for new dates.
Let’s all do our bit and get fully vaccinated so we can get back to doing the things we love.
