Major milestone for Bolton cancer partnership

Monday 22 August 2016

The new purpose built Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Centre at the Royal Bolton Hospital opens its doors on Monday 22 August 2016.  It will offer information and support on all aspects of cancer care including reducing the risk of cancer, early detection, diagnosis, treatment or adjusting to life after a cancer diagnosis.  The centre offers a warm, friendly, safe environment for people affected by cancer, their carer, relatives and friends, to discuss any concerns they may have.  The service also has a Macmillan benefits adviser who can assist people with checking they are receiving the correct income, help with applying for health related benefits, accessing charitable grants, and applying for tax benefits.

Sue Summerfield, Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service Manager, said: “If you have any concerns about cancer, or would like some support, come in and see us. No question is ever too small and you don’t need an appointment. We’re here to help anyone affected by cancer."

Bolton's Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service is delivered in partnership with NHS Bolton Clinical Commissioning Group, Bolton Hospice, and Bolton People Affected by Cancer.
