Praise for town's local vaccination teams

NHS Bolton Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and partners have praised the efforts of local vaccination centres, their teams and the local community for their response to the enhanced vaccination programme in relation to the variant of concern.

The job is far from over however, with Bolton’s Covid-19 vaccination lead calling on eligible people to keep coming forward for their jab as the enhanced vaccination programme enters its third week.

Dr Helen Wall, senior responsible offer for the vaccination programme in Bolton said: “I am incredibly proud of the people of Bolton for the way they have responded to the current situation, coming forward in their thousands to be vaccinated.

“There is still more to do and I am directly appealing to those people who are eligible but have not yet had their jab, to come forward now.”

She also commended the way the local community, volunteers, partners and our NHS staff, have pulled together in recent weeks. Since our vaccination programme was accelerated earlier this month, more than 15,000 people have been vaccinated in Bolton at the extra sites.

We are now working to further increase our vaccination capacity, by bringing more vaccine services into the heart of communities with the highest need (or risk), closer to where people live and work. In the coming days our vaccination services will be further supported by the British Army, who will work alongside our partners and volunteers, and with the oversight of the CCG and its trusted network of GP-led services.

Dr Wall added: “As we tackle the current situation, it’s crucial that we all pull together to provide additional capacity to our local vaccination services, and I am pleased to welcome the British Army to support us to do that here in Bolton.”

Further details of enhanced vaccination services will follow.
