Temporary drive-through COVID-19 testing site to open in Bolton
Bolton residents with coronavirus symptoms will be able to get a test at a temporary drive-through site from Monday (July 20).
The pop-up facility will operate until August 21, strictly by appointment only via the online national booking system.
The site will offer up to 400 'self-swab' tests per day from 10.30am to 3.30pm, seven days a week.
Appointments will be available from Sunday evening (July 19).
Testing should take place in the first five days of the onset of coronavirus symptoms.
The symptoms are:
- a high temperature
- a new, continuous cough
- a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
Cllr Susan Baines, Executive Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, said: "At this phase in our response to the coronavirus pandemic, it is absolutely essential that anyone with symptoms applies for a test as soon as possible.
“You can order a home test kit online or book an appointment at the new temporary testing centre in Bolton.
“Until you have the results, you should stay at home and not have any visitors. Everyone in your household or support bubble should do the same.
“If we all continue to play our part, we can protect the NHS and keep everyone safe.”
Tests at the site will be self-administered meaning those eligible will carry out their own test. Tests for under-12s must be administered by a parent or carer.
Results will be received within 48 hours.
The facility will accommodate people arriving by car and strict social distancing measures will be observed at all times.
The drive through test centre outside the University of Bolton stadium will close on Friday (June 17).
