Walk-in vaccination clinics for first and second doses

23/7/21

Bolton’s vaccination teams will make a return visit to two major locations this week, to ensure people can get their second dose.

As reported previously, two vaccination buses will be at Essa Academy from Friday, July 23 to Sunday, August 1.

Also, Eden Boys’ School in Wolfenden Street, will open its doors once again from Friday, July 30 to Sunday, August 1.

Both sites were key locations for walk-in vaccinations during the height of the Delta Variant in May and June.

They will both offer a second dose of the vaccine to people who had their first dose there approximately eight weeks ago, or at any other site in Bolton. In addition, they are open to anyone aged 18 or over in the borough to get their first dose.

Other walk-in vaccination sites will operate from the Market Place Shopping Centre and Horwich RMI Club during the week ahead.

Please note that the requirement to wear a face covering and practice social distancing in healthcare settings remains in place. This includes ALL vaccination sites and is essential to protect the most vulnerable and our staff.

Dr Helen Wall, senior responsible officer for the vaccination programme in Bolton, said: “Unfortunately, cases are rising again in Bolton and the message remains the same despite the easing of restrictions nationally this week: please continue with twice weekly testing and get vaccinated!

“This period is crucial, and there are still thousands of people who haven’t had their first dose yet. I would urge everyone who is eligible for their vaccination to take advantage of one of our walk-in clinics this week. We appreciate some people might still be hesitant, but all of our sites will happily discuss any concerns about getting the vaccine.

“People need two doses of the vaccine for the best protection against becoming seriously unwell or being admitted to hospital, so we are making a few return visits to key sites to make it easier for them to access their second dose, and also get their first if they haven’t yet done so!.”
